Sign without printing
Drop the PDF and make the signature in the settings: type your name and it is drawn in a handwriting face, draw it with a mouse, finger or stylus, or pick a photo of the signature you already have on paper — the white of the paper is removed, so only the ink lands on the page. Then drag it onto the signature line on the page preview. It goes on the last page unless you choose the first, or every page for initialling each sheet.
The size slider matches the space on the line, and the date option writes today's date under the signature, which many forms ask for right there.
What kind of signature this is
This is a visible electronic signature: an image of your signature drawn into the document. It is what rental agreements, school and medical forms, delivery receipts and most everyday contracts accept. It is not a certificate-based digital signature, which proves cryptographically who signed and that the file was not changed afterwards. When a court, a bank or a government process requires that, it will name the certificate service to use.
After signing a form, flatten it so the filled-in fields cannot be typed over, and add a password if it should only be opened by the person you send it to.
Your signature stays with you
A signature is the one mark that stands for you, and a picture of it on a stranger's server is a picture anyone there can reuse. Here the document and the signature are handled in this tab: nothing is uploaded, nothing is kept after you close it, and there is no account to create.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a legally valid signature?
It is a visible electronic signature: an image of your signature placed on the document, which is what most everyday agreements, forms, rental contracts and school slips accept. It is not a certificate-based digital signature, which proves cryptographically who signed and that nothing changed afterwards. When a contract or a government process requires that kind, use the certificate service it names.
How do I make the typed signature look like handwriting?
Type your name the way you sign it and the page draws it in a handwriting typeface. To use your real signature, choose Draw and sign with a mouse, finger or stylus, or choose Image and pick a photo of your signature on white paper — the paper is removed and only the ink is kept.
Can I sign every page, like initials on a contract?
Yes. Choose Every page and the signature is placed at the same spot on each sheet. For the usual case, a single signature on the last page, leave it on Last.
Can someone move or remove my signature afterwards?
The signature is drawn into the page, not added as a loose object, so it does not move when the document is opened. If the document also has form fields, flatten it after signing so nothing can be typed over them, and protect it with a password if it should not be edited.
Is my signature uploaded?
No. The signature image and the document stay in this tab and are never sent anywhere — which is exactly what you want for the one mark that stands for you.
